Friends and Family

5th Grade Lesson

As a life-long Coloradan, in 2015 I was living in Grand Junction and transitioning careers from non-profits to education. While student teaching, I developed close friendships with fellow educators that lived in Fairplay and Alma. Through visiting these friends, Evan and I developed a love of Park County and its close-knit community. In 2018, we purchased our first home outside of Alma and were married that same year. Evan and I have started our life together here and look forward to the many years to come.

Growing up in Grand Junction, I was raised in a conservative, Southern Baptist, working class family. My parents promoted community involvement as a pillar in our home; this instilled in me my passion for public service and set me on my path to listen, learn, and lead by example in all that I do. Because of my parents, I understand what it means to work hard and to care deeply about the community I live in.

My early education began in a private Southern Baptist school and most recently I received my Masters in Educational Leadership from Western State Colorado University. I have spent the past fifteen years working in nonprofits and public education. During this time I have sat on numerous boards, managed large and limited budgets, and effectively taught students in elementary school and at the college level.

Stepping into the role of commissioner would be a natural progression of my professional skill set. For example, currently as an educator, I navigate difficult conversations, actively listen to all perspectives, and encourage others to play a meaningful role in decision making processes. As your next commissioner, I would use my professional skill set to provide a balance and fresh voice on the commissioner board.

My moderate views, professional experience, and desire to serve Park County are why you should vote to elect me this November. If you have follow up questions please reach out: info@girodoforparkco.com
